Unlike other products that are acidic (low pH), Selphyl® PRP is close to physiologic pH. After administration, there may be some temporary discomfort. Some patients may experience occasional redness and bruising immediately following the treatment. However, this is usually resolved very quickly.
Because the PRP is produced from a patient's own blood, there is little to no risk of rejection and there have not been any known side effects to date associated with Selphyl®. Some patients may experience temporary irritation or mild swelling, bruising, itching, discoloration or tenderness directly after administration. If irritation persists, please consult with your treating physician.
There is virtually no risk of allergic reaction. The Selphyl® PRP System is used to rapidly collect and isolate a patient's own platelets for administration and contains no animal or synthetic products.
